TOUR OVERVIEW

You will explore the treasures of the Vatican, including St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Square in Rome. You might want to take a day trip on your own to Naples and Pompeii, taste wine in the nearby wineries located in Roman hills or take a pasta cooking class. You will arrive in Naples by train and you will visit the ancient ruins of Pompeii on your way to Sorrento where you will experience one of the most picturesque roads in the world, the marvelous Amalfi Coast drive and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Itinerary

ITALIAN FANTASY starts in Rome on select Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.
  • DAY 1

    ROME

    Upon arrival in Rome, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. A Homeric Tours representative will contact you to set up your orientation meeting.
  • DAY 2

    ROME

    Start the day with a view of the Roman Forum, the hub of public life in ancient Rome, while making our way to the Colosseum, the legendary arena where gladiator games were staged to entertain the crowds. Afterwards, enjoy a stroll around Rome’s historic center, past picture-perfect sites such as Bernini’s fountain in Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, you will explore the treasures of the Vatican, including St. Peter’s Basilica, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Square. Evening is at leisure to dine in one of the local restaurants.

  • DAY 3

    ROME

    Today is spent at leisure with a choice of the optional activities. You might visit the famous Colosseum and Forum Romanum. You might want to take a day trip to Naples and Pompeii, taste wine in the nearby wineries located in the Roman hills or take a part in the pasta cooking class.

  • DAY 4

    ROME / POMPEII / VICO EQUENSE

    After breakfast, you will be transferred to the train station for a train ride to Naples. Upon arrival, meet your driver and continue to Vico Equense, on the Sorrento Coast. En route, visit the ancient ruins of Pompeii, a city once devastated by the eruption of the volcano, Vesuvius (option to add a guided tour to the archaeological site). Late afternoon arrival to Vico Equense for check in at your hotel.

    AMALFI COAST

    Today, you will experience the drive along one of the most picturesque roads in the world, the marvelous Amalfi Coast drive. Head towards Positano, enjoying the beautiful views of towering cliffs, terraced villages and the sparkling blue sea. Stop in Positano, the charming cliff-side village where everything screams ‘la dolce vita’. Afterwards, visit the historic town of Amalfi and its stunning cathedral. Finally, head to the hills and reach Ravello, home to stunning villas and gorgeous panoramas, before journeying back to your hotel. Evening at leisure.

    VICO EQUENSE

    The entire day is at leisure to relax by the pool, on the beach or possibly taking a boat ride to the island of Capri.

CURRENCY: (The unit of currency is the Euro. Coinage is available in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents with 1 and 2 Euros. Bank notes come in units of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 Euros. We suggest you exchange your money in a bank, as opposed to the hotel, in order to get the best exchange rate. Banks are open from 8am to 1:30pm and 3:00-4:00pm from Monday to Friday.)
