Alexandria is a major Mediterranean port city in Egypt with great history.
It was founded by Alexander the Great, king or Macedonia, Greece in 331 BC.
Alexandria became the seat of the Ptolemaic Kingdome and quickly grew to be one of the greatest cities of the Hellenistic world.
During the Hellenistic period, it was home to a lighthouse, the Pharos of Alexandria, ranking among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World as well as a storied library.
Alexandria was under Roman power from 48 BC-365 AD
