TOUR OVERVIEW

Explore the city of Florence where you will learn about the rich legacy of the Medici family, who left the city a wealth of cultural and artistic treasures. You will visit famous spots such a Piazza dellaSignoria, the Cathedral with Giotto’s bell tower and the Baptistry before crossing the Ponte Vecchiobridge and entering the Oltramo neighborhood, known for its artisanal workshops and quaint atmosphere. During the tour, you will also visit the Accademia Gallery, home to one of the most exquisite art collection in town, which includes Michelangelo’s giant statue of David, a symbol of Florence and one of the greatest works of art of all time. Next, reach San Gimignano, the stunning medieval town with an impressive skyline crowned by 14 towers that have survived through the centuries, earning it the nickname “Medieval Manhattan”. You will embark on a scenic drive through the heart of Tuscany. Stops include Montalcino, a walled medieval town famous for the production of the renowned Brunello wine, Montepulciano, the Renaissance jewel home to one of Italy’s most ancient wines, the Vino Nobile, and finally to the lovely town of Pienza. 

 

Itinerary

Absolute Tuscany starts in Florence on select Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
  • DAY 1

    FLORENCE

    Arrival in Florence. You will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at your leisure. Overnight in Florence.
  • DAY 2

    FLORENCE

    Join an expert local guide for a fun, information walk through the city’s past and learn about the rich legacy of the Medici family, who left the city a wealth of cultural and artistic treasures. You will visit famous spots such a Piazza dellaSignoria, the Cathedral with Giotto’s bell tower and the Baptistry before crossing the Ponte Vecchiobridge and entering the Oltramo neighborhood, known for its artisanal workshops and quaint atmosphere.     FLORENCE / TUSCANY

    This afternoon, go to your designated meeting point and enjoy a drive to Siena. Enjoy a guided tour of its UNESCO-listed historic center. Next, reach San Gimignano, the stunning medieval town with an impressive skyline. Explore its cobble stoned streets before proceeding to the hills of Chianti. Enjoy dinner at a charming wine estate, where you’ll dine on traditional Tuscan dishes paired with fine wines.

  • DAY 4

    FLORENCE

    Today, learn about the art of Tuscan cooking. Meet a local chef who will guide you in this experience and head to the city’s lively central food market, where you will pick the ingredients to prepare your meal. Armed with bags of fresh produce, take a quick stroll to the kitchen in the heart of Florence and sample some local delicacies before you start cooking. Next, put your apron on and learn how to cook bruschetta, homemade pasta with a tasty sauce, and a traditional Tuscan dessert under the watchful eye of the chef, who will share stories about Tuscan food and culture along the way. Then, it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your culinary efforts accompanied by some great Chianti wine. At the end of the experience, you’ll receive a certificate and a recipe booklet to replicate the dishes at home. Overnight in Florence.

    FLORENCE / MONTEPULCIANO

    Today you will embark on a scenic drive through the heart of Tuscany. Stops include Montalcino, a walled medieval town famous for the production of the renowned Brunello wine, Montepulciano, the Renaissance jewel home to one of Italy’s most ancient wines, the Vino Nobile, and finally to the lovely town of Pienza. Visit a local winery tosample some of the region’s best wines and be treated to a delicious lunch to taste Tuscan specialties. Overnight in Montepulciano.

    MONTEPULCIANO

    After some active days in Tuscany, your Estate is the perfect spot to relax.You can read your favorite book in the gorgeous garden, walk along the shady roads around your villa, enjoy horse riding or visit the town of Cortona, just 10 minutes away. Opt tojoin a cooking class with the resident chef where you can learn all the secrets of the region’s traditional recipes or choose from some of many activities available. Overnight in Montepulciano.
