TOUR OVERVIEW

Experience the Italian city by the bay of Naples where you will visit Pompeii to see the ruins of the ancient metropolis destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. You will continue by train to the capital of Italy - Rome where you will explore the treasures of the Vatican, including St. Peter's Basilica, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Square. Continue by train to Florence where you will experience a walking tour of the city called the "cradle of Renaissance" and a visit to the famous Duomo. Enjoy the city by the Grand Canal Venice and its architecture and the Bridge of Sighs. Relax on your gondola ride on the Grand Canal as a day of leisure or visit the islands of the Venetian lagoon.

ITALIAN ESCAPADE starts in Naples daily.
  • DAY 1

    SORRENTO

    Upon arrival in Naples, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Sorrento. The rest of the day is at leisure. A Homeric Tours representative will contact you to set up your orientation meeting.

    SORRENTO

    In the morning you will be transferred to Pompeii for a visit of the ruins of the ancient metropolis destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.

    Day at leisure to enjoy an optional drive along the Amalfi Coast, including stops in Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi.

    A morning transfer to the Naples train station. The ride takes you from Naples to the Eternal City.

    ROME

    Today is spent at leisure with a choice of optional activities. You might visit the famous Colosseum and Forum Romanum, or taste wine in nearby wineries located in the Roman Hills. You can also take part in the pasta cooking class.

    ROME / FLORENCE

    After breakfast, you will be transferred to the train station for a high-speed train ride to Florence. After you check in, you will experience a walking tour of the city called the “cradle of Renaissance” with a visit to the famous Duomo and a walk along the Ponte Vecchio.

  • DAY 7 & 8

    FLORENCE

    You will have two days to enjoy the city of Florence with a possible visit to the Accademia, home of the fabulous David, but also to journey into to the Tuscany region. Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano and Chianti are only a short drive away. So you do not have to choose between art and wine, you can taste both.

    FLORENCE / VENICE

    A train ride takes you north to the city by the Grand Canal Venice. An afternoon walking tour reveals the history and architecture of the city, as you visit San Marco’s square and the Bridge of Sighs, among other landmarks.

    VENICE

    Your last day of this Italian escapade is yours to plan in Venice. You can cross off “take a gondola ride on the Grand Canal” from your list or visit the islands of the Venetian lagoon, Murano and Burano to see a “glass-blowing” demonstration.

Homeric Tours highly recommends that all our passengers purchase travel insurance. We offer a cost-effective, comprehensive insurance plan that protects you in cases such as having to cancel your trip for medical reasons, leaving your trip early due to an emergency, getting reimbursed in case your baggage arrives late, and so on.

We offer two separate plans: one for passengers who purchase only air tickets from us and the other for passengers who purchase land-only services (hotels, cruises, transfers, etc.) or land-and-air packages.

PASSPORT/VISA: (It is recommended that your passport have at least six months of validity whenever you travel abroad to avoid unintended travel disruptions. Because rules and regulations frequently change, please inquire about passports validity and visas from the consulate of the foreign country you will visit. CURRENCY: (The unit of currency is the Euro. Coinage is available in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents with 1 and 2 Euros. Bank notes come in units of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 Euros. We suggest you exchange your money in a bank, as opposed to the hotel, in order to get the best exchange rate. Banks are open from 8am to 1:30pm and 3:00-4:00pm from Monday to Friday.) 
ELECTRICAL CURRENT: (The voltage may vary from 125 to 220 in the cities. It is best to travel with dual current appliances with plug adapters.)
