DAY 1: LISBON
Arrive Lisbon. You will be met and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 2: LISBON / SINTRA / OBIDOS / FATIMA
After breakfast transfer to your car rental to begin your suggested itinerary. Drive to Sintra, a beautiful village declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Discover the charms and history of Sintra, starting with the fabulous Pena Palace, one of the greatest examples of Romanticism of the 19th century in Portugal. Explore the historic center and taste the local delights. Continue the journey to the charming village of Obidos. Travel through time in this medieval walled town and admire its Gothic churches and narrow winding streets. Arrive in Fatima, a place of pilgrimage and faith, with its majestic Sanctuary, for overnight. (B)
DAY 3: FATIMA / ALCOBACA / NAZARE / BATALHA / FATIMA
Breakfast at the hotel. Today it is suggested to visit the monasteries awarded by UNESCO. Begin with the Monastery of Santa Maria in Alcobaca, which houses the largest church in the country, known for its medieval architecture. This monument is the address of the tombs of Pedro and Ines de Castro, protagonists of a tragic love story that charmed and inspired many Portuguese writers. The second monastery, Santa Maria da Vitoria in Batalha, is a masterpiece of the Gothic style. We recommend lunch at the picturesque fishing village of Nazare. Return to Fátima for overnight. (B)
DAY 4: FATIMA / COIMBRA / AVEIRO / PORTO
After breakfast at the hotel depart for Coimbra, the city of students, so called to host one of the first universities in Europe and the most important of the country. Stroll in the oldest part of Coimbra, made of narrow streets that lead to the top of the hill. Continue to Aveiro, the "Portuguese Venice", crossed by the Ria de Aveiro, a lagoon basin where the fresh waters of the Vouga river mix with the waters of the sea. Continue to Porto, located on the mouth of the Douro, and visit its historical center, World Heritage since 1996. Do not miss the Cathedral, the Clerigos Tower, the Ribeira area, Casa da Musica and the Serralves Foundation. Overnight in Porto. (B)
DAY 5: PORTO / DOURO REGION / VISEU
Breakfast at the hotel and set off to the first classical wine region in the world to be delimited, the region of the Douro Valley. Driving by narrow and winding roads, you will find quiet, peaceful towns and vineyards all around. Drive by Mesao Frio and Peso da Regua before arriving in Viseu, an ancient and welcoming town with medieval streets, the Manueline-style Cathedral and the Church of Misericordia. Overnight in Viseu. DAY 6: VISEU / TOMAR / FATIMA
Today after breakfast continue driving through the country and stop at Tomar, former seat of the Order of the Templars who founded the Convent of Christ, containing testimonies of Roman, Gothic, Manueline, Renaissance, Mannerism and more. Continue to Fatima for overnight. (B)
DAY 7: FATIMA / ESTREMOZ / EVORA
After breakfast drive to Estremoz, a white and noble city, featuring the medieval castle and ancient citadel. Continue to Evora, a World Heritage site, renowned for its beauty, architecture history and traditions. Do not leave without visiting the 3rd century AD Roman Temple, the Roman-Gothic Cathedral and the Chapel of the Bones of the Sao Francisco church. Overnight in Evora. (B)
DAY 8: EVORA / LISBON
Breakfast at the hotel. Return to your hotel in Lisbon. Today enjoy a day at leisure to stroll in the old and typical Alfama district or to visit the monuments in Belem, erected in the 15th and 16th centuries. (B)
DAY 9: LISBON
After breakfast at the hotel return the car at the airport. (B)
