Day 1, FRI : Moscow
Upon arrival in Moscow, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Welcome dinner this evening. (D)
Day 2, SAT : Moscow
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Moscow is one of the largest cities in the world. Today, your sightseeing begins in Red Square, dominated by St. Basil's Cathedral and by the massive red walls of the Kremlin. Visit the Armory Museum; proceed to see the Moscow University and the popular Arbat shopping district. Continue with a drive along the wide boulevards and then stroll through GUM, Russia's largest department store. Continue on the north bank of the River Moskva, passing by baroque Novodevichy convent, ending the tour at the popular Arbat Shopping district. The rest of your day leisure. is at leisure. We suggest to take part in an optional tour by night of Moscow and its subway. (B)
Day 3, SUN: Moscow / Sergiev Posad
Today, after breakfast, you will travel to a small town of Sergiev Posad, former Zagorsk, founded in the 14th century and renowned as a center of ancient Russian art and architecture. Within the old walled city admire the fairy-tale golden and blue domes of the Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra, one of the most beautiful monasteries. After lunch at a popular restaurant return to Moscow. Rest of the day at leisure. (B,L)
Day 4, MON : Moscow / St. Petersburg
Free time in Moscow before leaving for St. Petersburg by high speed train. Arrival in St. Petersburg, the former capital of the Romanov Czars, after a four hour ride. You will be transferred to the hotel. Dinner at the hotel. (B,D)
Day 5, TUE: St. Petersburg
There are not many cities in the world that can match the grace of St. Petersburg. In 1703 Peter the Great founded the city. He hired Europe's best architects, craftsmen and artists to build and decorate this graceful city. Spread over 100 islands and linked by over 600 bridges, it is often referred to as the "Venice of the North". Today's tour includes the Palace Square with the Winter Palace, Senate Square with the monument of the Emperor Peter the Great, St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Peter and Paul Fortress, built in 1703 to protect the city from enemy attacks and the Peter and Paul Cathedral which served as the burial place for Russian Emperors. Your evening is free or join an optional Russian folklore show or an evening canal cruise (B)
Day 6, WED : St. Petersburg
This morning, your sightseeing tour features the world-famous Hermitage Museum. It was founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great and houses more than four million works of art. The Hermitage occupies five buildings, the largest is the Winter Palace, the former residence of Russian Emperors. The rest of the day is at leisure. Tonight join a farewell dinner. (B,D)
Day 7, THU: St. Petersburg
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport. (B)
